Hi Amy & John!! You guys look great! Amy, you’re still my inspiration!! I’ve got some catching up to do on the blog, but I wanted to say hello!!

  2. Meg

Hey! We met on a metro ride in Recife, Brazil on our way to the Italy v. Costa Rica game (I think it was that one) – we’re the Canadian/American couple in our late twenties.

I’m so inspired by you two and your story and can’t wait to do something similar in the near-ish future!

PS: Thanks for the advice – we bought food before half-time and they DID end up running out!

Enjoy the rest of your adventures!

    Cheers,
    Meg

Loving your blog posts, Amy and John! “Fee-shee! check!” made me laugh out loud. Amy, my parents are selling their house in Hawaii…thought I’d give you first right of refusal… Stay safe and happy!! – Amanda Comer

Oh! That was a great house! I wish we could. Please tell your lovely parents that I say hello! Miss you, Deems!!

  9. Thinking about you guys as I sit across from ‘Up Dog’ at the Knickerbocker (his name is Artie by the way).

  10. It’s not that I’m not thinking of you. I track you on facebookand The Blog. Not too good at comments. I loved your anniversary trip and the trek to the Great Wall. Poor John, sorry about the tooth, but the pic was the best. Love and miss you both. Happy you are having such a wonderful time. Amy, please keep up the hotel room tours, I see a career for you in the future. Love and kisses Annie

So, looks like your anniversary caused a delayed reaction in the Philippines — Typhoon Haiyan! Glad you’re not there…sounds really bad.

  12. Todd

Amy and John… You guys did an incredible job on this site. It looks fantastic and we love following your journey!

  13. Stef Cohen

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! It’s the 29th in Korea. I sure hope there’s no bizarre weather events there. Forecast looks good for NYC. The UK is having a bit of a storm, however.

  14. Amy Scanlan – A completely random blast from your past….Megan Lewellyn (from SU-Theta) I am not completely sure how I came across your blog via FB BUT I did and SO SO glad I did….seems you married a true funnyman! I have spent that past two hours reading and watching videos – which would be FINE if I weren’t at work at the moment:) Can’t wait to read more and follow. What an amazing adventure! Glad I found your blog and can live vicariously through you!
    Cheers!
    Meg

  15. Stef Cohen

It’s been a month already?! Wow. Also, getting nervous about the weather, cuz your anniversary is coming up…don’t make any sudden movements.

    And of course:

    한국에 오신 것을 환영합니다
    hangug-e osin geos-eul hwan-yeonghabnida

    “welcome to korea” in Korean

Your blog is becoming part of my Sunday night ritual. Loving every word, photo and video.

  18. The latest Kyoto entry had me laughing out loud! Love that you are getting right into it, language barrier or not. Although the language of karaoke is universal, ne? Have fun in Hokkaido and find some great uni!

  19. After reviewing the Sumo wrestling video I see that you can learn some squat toilet techniques for your next train experience!

  20. I second MJ’s We Are the World. John you are in great voice. Love, Annie

  21. Jeremy Lynch

Good luck to you both and enjoy every moment. Won’t be able to protect you from any out of control golf carts during your travels Bruecks, so be careful!

  22. You are my hero. You always have been, but now I get to tell the world (or at least the people who read your blog). Enjoy this trip for all of us! Can’t wait to see where you go!

  23. Frank Hamilton

Congratulations on making the leap and feel free to use my name anywhere you think it might help. Of course it won’t do anything for you, but at least I’ll know my name is getting around.

  24. Good luck in your upcoming travels and I await wonderful posts. Please learn as many foul words in as many languages as you can. If you choose not to post such multi-lingual profanity on this blog, let’s plan on meeting at Eduardo’s Agua Hole in southern Nicaragua.

  25. Tom Schickel

Best of luck! Anticipation abounds as the John & Amy narrative unfolds. Please learn as many foul words in as many languages as possible. That alone is worth the price of the trip.

  26. Rachel V

    And here’s a helpful phrase:

Can I see the wine list? ワインのリストを見せて頂けませんか
(wain no risuto o misete itadakemasen ka?)

  31. I am so excited for you two! Amy, can you get Mai to give me my recipe as well? Then I can concoct it at home. Ha.

  32. Gary Fall
